These three steps can be performed in all directions. They are part of many figures and variations.

The time length of each step of each dance and the respective figure or variation depends on: Cha -Cha -Cha, the Chassé of the basic step in normal timing with 1/ 2, 1/ 2 and 1/1 a beat on 4 and one danced. In Jive, the first step of chasses, however, is longer, the second shorter. Here 1/4 and 1/1 a beat is 3/4 is used. A Chassé that is not danced to the side can be replaced by a lockstep (cross step).
