The Chattahoochee River is a springing in the northeast of the U.S. state of Georgia River, which flows through the western suburbs of Atlanta. Together with the Flint River to form the Apalachicola River in Florida. The name comes from the Chattahoochee Cherokee language and means " painted rock ". 1978, a nationally significant recreation area, the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area was established.
Conservation
The Eufaula National Wildlife Refuge is a 1964 -built 45.26 km ² large nature reserve among other water birds. It includes the Lake Eufaula, where the Chattahoochee River is dammed, and lies on the border between Alabama and Georgia
