Check sheet

A test sheet is a simple document that is used to collect data in real time at the location where the data is generated. The document is typically a blank form is used for the quick, simple and efficient recording of the desired information, either quantitatively or qualitatively. If the information is quantitative, the test sheet is also called tally. The aim is to obtain an overview of the quality status and meet leaders the opportunity to give decisions on the basis of facts.

A characteristic feature of Prüfblatts is that data are recorded with bullets. A typical test sheet is divided into sections that have different meanings. The data are read by observing the position and number of marks on the sheet. 5 basic types of test sheets:

  • Classification: A feature like a defect or fault must be classified in a category.
  • Location: The location of a feature is specified on a picture of a part or element.
  • Frequency: The presence or absence of a characteristic or a combination of properties is displayed. The number of occurrences of a feature on a part can be specified.
  • Tally: Items that are to be executed for a task are listed so that, when each is achieved, it is marked as completed.
