The skewness Turtlehead ( Chelone obliqua ), also called Miesmäulchen or snakehead, is a species of the genus of shield Flowers ( Chelone ) in the family of the plantain family ( Plantaginaceae ).

Features

Inclined plate flower is a perennial, herbaceous plant, which reaches stature heights of 30 to 90 centimeters. The leaves are lanceolate to ovate and narrowing into the short petiole. The flowers are arranged in dense spikes. The crown is 25 to 30 millimeters long, dyed pink purple and has a yellow Gaumenbehaarung.

The flowering period extends from July to September.

Occurrence

Inclined plate flower is found in humid forests in the eastern United States.

Use

The skewness Aspidistra is scattered used as an ornamental plant for natural gardens. It needs a partially shaded, moist location. The species is in cultivation since at least 1752. There are a few varieties.
