Chemins de fer électriques Veveysans

The Chemins de fer électriques Veveysans (CEV ) was a Swiss narrow gauge railway company, the successor company is today's transportation Montreux- Vevey- Riviera ( MVR).

The MVR is the owner of the infrastructure of the still existing railway network of the former CEV. This consists of the railway line Vevey -Saint -Légier- Blonay -Les Pleiades and the railway line Blonay -Chamby.

While the railway line Vevey -Les Pleiades is operated year-round scheduled routes, the railway line Blonay -Chamby serves the trains running only during the summer season trains Blonay -Chamby and occasional operating rides.

The section Blonay -Les Pleiades is continuously provided with a rack system according to Strub.

History

Railway Vevey -Saint -Légier- Blonay -Chamby 1901

The origin of the Chemins de fer électriques Veveysans is the first built in 1902 adhesion railway Vevey -Saint -Légier- Blonay -Chamby. In Chamby existed from the beginning after the railway line opened in 1901, Montreux -Les Avants of Montreux- Bernese Oberland Railway ( MOB).

Railway Saint- Légier- Châtel -Saint -Denis 1904

In 1904, the route network with the railway line Saint- Légier- Châtel -Saint -Denis has been extended. While in Saint- Légier the railway line newly built joined to the existing railway line Vevey- Blonay -Chamby, this closed in Châtel -Saint -Denis on the railroad track in the original Châtel- Palézieux Railway ( CP) and the Châtel- bull - Montbovon train to (CBM). The latter two railway companies are predecessor of today's free TPF ( TPF ).

Railway Blonay -Les Pleiades 1911

In 1911, the train from Blonay was opened up to Les Pleiades, the only wrong initially as pure cog railway between Blonay and Les Pleiades.

Railway decommissioning and new rolling stock end of the 1960s

Given the often very low traffic demand, the public sector was not prepared to finance the renewal of the whole network. In a 1966 signed Financing Agreement, the granting of federal funds was subject to the condition that the stretch Blonay -Chamby immediately and the route will Saint- Légier- Châtel -Saint -Denis shut down after two years. The remaining distance to Vevey -Les Pleiades could be operated with the newly procured adhesion and rack rail car as a solid line economically.

On the railway line Blonay -Chamby rail traffic was discontinued without replacement on 21 May 1966 but the track remained for the time being. On July 20, 1968 it was opened to her the first museum railway in Switzerland, which Blonay -Chamby (BC ).

In 1969, the railway line Saint- Légier- Châtel -Saint -Denis was decommissioned and dismantled. To replace a bus line serves from Vevey, whose concession was granted as a national peculiarity together the GFM, tpf today and the Transports publics Vevey- Montreux- Chillon -Villeneuve ( VMCV ).

Accidents in 1966 and 1970

On August 24, 1966 derailed at Saint- Légier a moving train after Blonay because a person lying on a rail sleeper screw. 15 people were injured.

On 7 July 1970, the station bunweit Clie a head-on collision of two railcars, with the 40 people were injured occurred. The two trains were supposed to cross in Clie.

Railway Vevey -Saint -Légier- Blonay -Les Pleiades since 1970

On the remaining rail line Vevey -Saint -Légier- Blonay -Les Pleiades enabled the then newly purchased railcars with mixed adhesion and rack drive, which were later supplemented with some control cars to commuter trains, a continuous operation between Vevey and Les Pleiades.

Since the delivery of the new articulated railcar loading 2/6 7001-7004 in 1997, the traffic is often handled broken again, which means it may have to change in Blonay.
