Cheondoism

The Korean religion of Cheondogyo (Korean for Religion of the Heavenly Way ) was born from the Donghak founded in 1860 by Choe Je- u ( 최제우 ) (Korean for Eastern teachings), a nationalist protest movement against characterized by corruption and suppression of social conditions in Korea Joseon Dynasty.

In South Korea, the faith community, whose syncretic doctrine seeks union with God over one million members, including approximately 400,000 in Seoul. In North Korea, a political party that Chondoistische Ch'ŏngu Party, which refers to the religion of Cheondogyo exists.
