Rules:

  • The " farmers " and smite always one square diagonally, that is, they attract like checkers and hit like chess pawns.
  • The "Lady " (equivalent to the king in chess ) draws the same as the farmers, but also backward
  • The "Knights " runs like the runners in check.
  • The figures suggest how they draw.
  • There is no obligation to capture.
  • If a pawn reaches the opponent's home row, it turns into a knight.
  • Aim of the game is to checkmate the opponent's checkers.

Chess Lady of Solomon W. Golomb

The American mathematician Solomon W. Golomb developed in the 20th century Cheskers, another chess checkers:

The rules differ in several points:

  • Pull the farmers and beat like checkers
  • The king moves the same as the farmers, but also backward
  • The bishop moves the same as in chess
  • The knight moves like the fairy chess piece Camel, eg g1 by f4
  • Can beat peasants or kings, there is obligation to capture, but can also beat Bishop or a Knight
  • If a pawn reaches the opponent's home row, he transforms into any of the characters
  • Aim of the game is to destroy all enemy kings

Both variants have not found widespread use.
