ChessV

ChessV (short for chess variants - German: Chess variants) is a free universal chess program for playing chess variants. It has a graphical user interface and includes many features of classical chess programs such as support for the integration of opening libraries.

Chess variants

The engine can play anything, which is somewhat similar to the classic chess basically. It is preconfigured for playing more than 50 chess variants, such as Chess960, or giant chess, or through the relatively unknown detour Capablanca Chess Birds also Gothic Chess, but can also be customized.

The version 0.9.2 dominated 59 chess variants:

• 2 variants on 6 × 6 squares
• 20 Variations on 8 × 8 squares
• 17 variations on 10 × 8 squares
• 16 variations on 10 × 10 fields
• 4 variants to 12 × 10 fields

Further adjustments are made.

Playing strength

In the computer - Gothic Chess World Cup 2004, the program took third place.
