Chiesa di San Pietro (San Marino)

The Chiesetta di San Pietro ( German: chapel to Saint Peter ) is a Catholic church in the city of San Marino, the capital of the tiny state of San Marino, near the Basilica of San Marino.

The church was built around the year 600 on the ruins of an ancient building. It houses a precious marble altar, which was donated in 1689 by the musician Antonio Tedeschi. A statue of St. Peter comes from Enrico Saroldi. In the crypt of the church there are two carved into rocks apse niches where allegedly in the remains of the saints Marinus and Leo. Inside the church there is a monument to Pope John XXIII. , Built by the Government of the Republic.
