China Black

China Black was a British pop and reggae duo, from 1994 to 1995 had several chart hits. The debut single reached number 4 Searching the British charts and became the biggest success of the band.

Band History

Simon Fung, whose parents come from Hong Kong, and Errol Reid, has its roots in the West Indies, founded in the early 1990s, the duo China Black. The band name originated as an allusion to their origin. The first single Searching appeared in 1992 and stayed 10 weeks at the top of the British reggae charts. Then disappeared, the two musicians for two years from the focus of the public.

It was not until 1994, a new recording of Searching hit the shelves, China Black climbed the next step in the ladder of success, reaching number 4 on the UK charts as well as a less spectacular number 82 in Germany. With stars Fung and Reid placed a quarter of a year later after a Top 20 hit in the UK. Almost See You ( Somewhere ) missed the top 30 of nearly 1995 native charts. In the same year stood Swing Low Sweet Chariot, a collaboration with Ladysmith Black Mambazo, at No. 15 and was the last chart listing for China Black.
