Chinchero District

Chinchero is a small town about 30 kilometers northwest of Cusco towards Urubamba in the Peruvian Andes at an altitude of 3760 meters above sea level. The city was the summer residence of the Incas, Inca Túpac Yupanqui the 10th to have had his favorite stay place here. In the church from the colonial era whose foundations date from the Inca period, the fair will be held today in the indigenous Quechua language ( Qusqu - Qullaw ). On the slope below the Plaza de Armas are also still many walls from the Inca period available.

Every Sunday there will be a colorful Indian market in Chinchero. Here textiles and handicrafts are traded. Fruits, vegetables and sweet potatoes in all variations from domestic agricultural production are available here.
