Chinon Industries
Chinon K. K. (Japaneseチノン 株式会社, Chinon Kabushiki - gaisha, Eng. Chinon Industries Inc.) was a Japanese camera manufacturer.
In Germany products from Chinon were sold mainly by mail order source under the private markets Revue or Revue Flex. Likewise, it did manage the Swiss Alpa camera manufacturers and the American department store Sears. Agfa had externally modernized Chinon SLR cameras under the name Agfa Selectronic in the program.
History
Chinon was known 1980s, especially in the through inexpensive SLRs. In addition, numerous compact and super-8 cameras were produced.
From 1988 to 1995 Chinon also produced CD -ROM drives.
Chinon later developed numerous digital cameras for Kodak, which acquired a majority stake in 1997 and the company in 2004 as a complete KK Kodak Digital Product Center (株式会社 コダック デジタル プロダクト センターKabushiki - gaisha Kodakku Dejitaru Purodakuto Senta, Eng. Kodak Digital Product Center, Japan, Ltd.). Took over.
2006 Kodak sold the company to Flextronics. Flextronics, an electronic manufacturing services provider, the company was divided as a Flextronics Digital Design Japan. In March 2009, the R & D center was introduced in Japan in a joint venture with the Taiwanese company Asia Optical to which Flextronics will hold 20%.
SLR Cameras
The SLR cameras were first, later with the popular Pentax K -mount (PK mount ) with M42 lens mount.
Chinon developed in the early 1980s an autofocus lens that - unlike Pentax - the entire control and the motor contained to focus. Thus, the auto-focus lenses were not compatible for this camera with those of Pentax, not even with the later -added in Pentax lenses with power zoom. Moreover, were the contacts that transmit other settings between lens and camera, arranged differently in Chinon than Pentax, so that the lenses were indeed exchanged mechanically each other, the newer features (such as identifying and setting the aperture or focal length) were not available.
A special feature of earlier Chinon SLR with PK bayonet was in the low to mid price range otherwise rather rare dimmer. With it, the iris was already close before taking the control of depth of field. Thus, already appropriated budget models for ambitious amateur photographers who wanted to use in picture composition specifically the sharpness and blur distribution as a design tool.
