ChipWits

ChipWits is a programming game that was developed in 1984 by Doug Sharp and Mike Johnston for the Apple Macintosh.

The player used an iconic programming language, called IBOL ( Icon -Based Operating Language) to teach a virtual robot to navigate through various mazes. The game was well suited to learn the basics of programming - but also had generally high entertainment value. The reviews from the period were very positive.

ChipWits has won several awards, including MACazine Best of '85, and MacUser 's Editor 's Choice Award in 1985.

The game was written in MacFORTH and 1985 ported to the Apple II and the Commodore 64.
