Chiripa

The archaeological place Chiripa is located on Lake Titicaca in Bolivia. The site Chiripa located 15 km east of the village on the Chiripa Taraco Peninsula.

The area was settled before the Tiahuanaco culture in the period from 1000 BC to 1100 AD. Center is a large temple with many tombs, which has been built in three sections.

First excavations in the 1940s were the last decade of the 20th century deepened by the " Taraco Archeological Project " of the University of California, Berkeley under the direction of Christine Hastorf.
