Chondroblastoma

Chondroblastoma (also called Codman 's tumor) is a benign form of bone tumor. It usually arises in the epiphysis of long bones and occurs in 1-2 % of young people. The most common sites are the lower end of the thigh bone and the top of the tibia.

The slow-growing tumor caused occasional pain and bruising in the adjacent joint. Although it is a " benign" respected as a tumor in some patients lung metastases have been observed.

Histologically shows this sharply defined tumor chondroblastenartige cells and giant cells.,

Treatment is usually surgical removal of the tumor and if necessary fill the resulting defect by bone grafting. Recurrence or malignant transformation are then rare.
