Chris Dittmar

Chris Dittmar ( born January 16, 1964 in Adelaide ) is an Australian former squash player.

Life

Chris Dittmar comes from a sports-loving family. His father and one of his uncles were active players in the Australian Football, another uncle, Len, Australian boxing champion was at welterweight. Chris Dittmar attended, among others, the St Michael 's College in his hometown of Adelaide in his school career.

Career

Already in his time with the juniors he stood in 1980 and 1982 in the final of the Squash World Cup, but lost both games against Peter Nance and Sohail Qaiser. Shortly after, Chris Dittmar began his professional career during which he won numerous tournaments. Only in the Individual World Championships he set up an inglorious record: DC five times he reached the final of the World Cup, but was as already decided in the juniors, none of the playoffs for themselves. In 1983, he failed to Jahangir Khan, 1987, 1989, 1990 and 1992 he was defeated each Jansher Khan. No player was far more often in the final without winning each one of them. With the Australian national team, he won a total of four times the world champion title. In July 1993, Chris Dittmar won for the first time the lead in the world ranking, but ended shortly after his pro career. He was inducted into the Squash Australia Hall of Fame in 2005.

Since end of his career as a professional squash player Chris Dittmar has worked as a sports commentator. When Channel Seven he commented long time Australian Football. He is also a commentator on various radio stations in Adelaide.
