Chrissy Amphlett

Christine Joy " Chrissy " Amphlett ( born October 25, 1959 in Geelong, Australia, † April 21, 2013 in New York City, United States) was an Australian singer, songwriter and actress. She is best known as the lead singer of Australian rock band Divinyls.

Life and work

Chrissy Amphlett grew up in Geelong, a port city in Australia. Your school she graduated from the Belmont High School. As a teenager Chrissy traveled to England, France and Spain, where she was arrested for three months since she had sung on the road.

In 1980, Chrissy Amphlett, the band Divinyls. 17 years later, the band split again. The biggest hit of the band Divinyls in 1991 was the song " I Touch Myself". 2006, the Divinyls were added to the Australian Recording Industry Association ( ARIA ) Hall of Fame. The band released a single, until 2009 separated again.

On July 27, 1999 Chrissy married the U.S. American drummer Charley Drayton, who was the drummer of their reformist group Divinyls since 1991.

In an interview on Nine Network in 2007 Chrissy Amphlett announced that she was suffering from multiple sclerosis., 2010, Chrissy announced that she was suffering from breast cancer and was being treated in New York, where she lived with her husband. On 24 January 2011 Chrissy said that she had beat cancer. She died at the age of 53 of complications from breast cancer and multiple sclerosis in New York. Since she suffered from MS to Chrissy neither radiotherapy nor chemotherapy could undergo.
