The Christians in the economy ( CiW ) ( former names include: Association devout merchants and manufacturers, the Association of Christian merchants ) are a non-denominational association of Christians from the area of ​​trade, commerce, services and industry. He has the legal form of a registered association. His business is located in Wuppertal. The Christians in business are far in Germany about 70 local groups with different formats ( discussion forums, groups, prayer groups, etc.) operate. History

The history of the club started in 1902 on February 18 this year, 36 Christian commitment and merchants and manufacturers met for a discussion evening on the theme. "Our Christian duty in the profession." The result of this meeting was the establishment of the Association devout merchants and manufacturers, the forerunner of today's Christians in business.

1908 merged the merchants and manufacturers with the Association devout clerks Germany. The intention was to institutionalize a neutral communication platform for Christian workers and employers. At the beginning of the world economic crisis in 1929, the association counted more than 2,000 members.

In the period of the Second World War, the Association's work was banned by the Nazi authorities. However, this prohibition prevented Members from organizing themselves as friends. In 1947 the Association's work new, now under the name Association of Christian merchants ( VCK ).

In the German Democratic Republic, the association was banned in 1951 and greatly reduced by the construction of the Wall in August 1961, the direct contacts with the members of the GDR. After the Berlin Wall in 1989, the work started there by February 24, 1990 at the National Community Church in Leipzig house.

In 1987, the General Assembly the name was changed to Christians in business - Association of Christian merchants eV ( VCK ). 1998, the current association name Christians in the economy was adopted eV.

Objectives

With their offerings Christians want in the business members and non-members - self-employed, entrepreneurs, employees and trainees - support to live Christian values ​​in their work environment and spread. Structure and Organization
