Christian Claaßen

Christian Claaßen ( May 22nd, 1969 in Barßel ​​) is a former German football player.

Career

Christian Claaßen changed in 1990 in Oldenburg from his youth club VfL Oldenburg to VfB Oldenburg. He played three years in the 2nd Bundesliga, until he moved to SV Wilhelmshaven 1993. In 1995 he was hired by the Bundesliga side Hamburger SV where he was, however, brought on in the first round in 1995/96 only five times. As of November 1995, the SV Meppen was his new club. For the 1998/99 season Claaßen went to VfL Osnabrück, where he played the next six years and had its most successful period. He was elected in 2001 to Lower Saxony's Footballer of the Year. After 62 goals in Osnabruck in 2004, he signed again at Meppen. Claaßens first stop was at the same time his last: As of 2006, he again played for VfL Oldenburg, with his brother Frank as coach. In 2008, he finished his career.
