Christian David Ginsburg

Christian David Ginsburg ( born December 25, 1831 in Warsaw, † March 7, 1914 in Enfield, today London ) was a Polish- British biblical scholar.

Career

Ginsburg, of Jewish parents, was in 1846 became Christian and active in the mission to the Jews, and only literary and scientific works since 1863. In addition, Ginsburg worked as a translator from Hebrew (Song, 1857; Ecclesiastes, 1861) and wrote essays on the Karaites and the Essenes. He also worked on the Kabbalah, he encountered particularly in later articles with strong refusal, and then made extensive Masoretic Studies (The Massoretico - Critical Text of the Hebrew Bible, 1894), was also working for encyclopedias eg for the Encyclopedia Britannica.
