Christian Donninger

Christian Donninger ( * 1957 in Wels ) is an Austrian chess programmer.

Life

Christian Donninger was born in Wels, Upper Austria in 1957 and studied mathematics at the University of Vienna. He graduated with a doctorate in statistics. He then worked for several years at the Vienna Institute for Advanced Studies and at Siemens until 1993 he set up his practice as a chess computer programmer. Since 1999 he lives in Altmelon in Lower Austria. In the computer chess scene he is known by the nickname Chrilly.

Its programs Nimzo ( last version 8, 2001) and Beat the bastard (2000) were sold by the company ChessBase. While Nimzo was aimed at a very high skill level and thus in competition was to programs like Fritz and Shredder, the program should address a bitch by voice as well as special handicap levels less good chess player. Donningers follow-up project Brutus was only briefly funded by ChessBase, as no more exploitation was seen.
