Christian Friedrich Heinrich Wimmer

Christian Friedrich Heinrich Wimmer ( born October 30, 1803 in Breslau, † March 12, 1868 ) was a German botanist, philologist and educator. Its official botanical author abbreviation is " Wimm. ".

Wimmer was school board and director of the Royal Friedrich-Wilhelms -Gymnasium in Breslau.

As a botanist, he devoted himself intensively to the genus of willow ( Salix). The plant genus Wimmeria Schltdl. from the family of the spindle tree family ( Celastraceae ) has been named in his honor.

Wimmer was admitted to the Imperial Leopoldinisch - Carolinian German Academy of Natural Scientists on 15 October 1841.

As a classical scholar to Wimmer discussed the phytologischen writings of Aristotle and Theophrastus, and published a collection of the fragments of Theophrastus.
