Christian Günther III, Prince of Schwarzburg-Sondershausen

Christian Günther I. ( III.) of Schwarzburg- Sondershausen (* June 24, 1736, † October 14, 1794 ) was 1758-1794 Prince of Schwarzburg- Sondershausen.

Life

Prince Christian Günther I. was the son of Prince Augustus I of Schwarzburg- Sondershausen (1691-1750) and his wife Princess Sophie Eberhardine (1696-1762), daughter of Prince Carl Friedrich of Anhalt- Bernburg.

After the death of his uncle Henry successor loose in 1758 and the death of his father in 1750 already Christian Günther became the next Prince of Schwarzburg- Sondershausen.

He had to fight for his throne with many obstacles to bring some abuses and to bear the burdens of the Seven Years War. Although he was only 22 years old, but he overcame everything with unwearied zeal and vigorous power. He was regarded as a very economical state and family man, but used the savings mainly to most important buildings.

Thus he built his residence castle in Sondershausen. He let extend the north wing and added the west wing of the famous Blue Hall. In addition, he built the very extensive domain building in Allmenhausen and special Hausen, the so-called Poss Tower, the largest truss tower, on the antics and much more. Especially the Ebeleben lock him at heart, where he spent his childhood. He had converted it extensively and had designed the adjoining park from scratch, so it was with its statues, cascades, fountains and flowers for a long time far and wide very famous.

The prince died in 1794 at the age of 59 years and made the throne for his eldest son Günther Friedrich Carl -free.

Christian Günther I was since February 4, 1760 with Charlotte Wilhelmine ( 1737-1777 ), daughter of Prince Victor Frederick von Anhalt- Bernburg, married. With her he had the following children:
