Christian Historical Union

The Historical Christelijk - Unie ( CHU ) was a party of the Reformed Christians in the Netherlands, which on 9 July 1908 as the merger of Christelijk - Historic Partij (formed 1903) and the Bond van Kiesvereenigingen op Christelijk - Historical grondslag in de provincie Friesland ( created in 1898 ) was established. The only Prime Minister of the party was Dirk Jan de Geer, who served twice in the period between the world wars.

In the 19th century, the terms anti- revolutionair were ( against the French Revolution directed ) and Christelijk - historical ( referring to historical rights of the estates company ) nor used for the same political tendency that was strong in the political Calvinism. However, compared to the equally Protestant anti - revolutionists Partij (ARP) of 1879 was rooted the CHU but not so much in the severe group of Gereformeerde Kerken in Nederland, but in the rather free intimate Dutch Reformed Church ( Nederlandse Hervormde Kerk ). Politically, however, the CHU was more conservative than the ARP, a more worn by nobles looser choice club as opposed to the democratic party integration ARP.

CHU, ARP and Katholieke Volkspartij (CIP) were in contrast to liberals and socialists as the three right because confessional parties. But you worked at least since 1967 closely together (although they entered not always the same in governments ) and formally merged on October 11, 1980 Christians Democratisch Appèl (CDA ).
