Christian Samuel Theodor Bernd

Theodor Bernd ( born April 12, 1775 in Meseritz, Neumark; † August 26, 1854 in Bonn ) was a German linguist, Sphragistiker and heraldry.

Life

Bernd studied theology in Jena since 1794, but had to find his progress as a private tutor since 1796. Campe pulled him to Braunschweig in 1804 to collaborate on the " dictionary of the German language." But the work soon Bernd alone fell, which she completed from 1807 to 1811.

In 1811 he got a job at the library at Breslau, in May 1813 a professorship at the high school in Kalisz and in October 1815 on such a Mary Magdalene -Gymnasium in Posen. In the fall of 1818 he was appointed secretary to the librarian Rheinische Friedrich- Wilhelms- University of Bonn, where he also was an associate professor of diplomatics, sphragistics and Heraldry in December 1822.
