Christian Schumann

Christian Schumann ( born January 14, 1983 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) is a German conductor and composer.

Schumann is the son of Hungarian parents. He was trained early as a pianist, studied conducting and composition at the Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt Weimar in Weimar and was coined by mentors such as Peter Eötvös, Pierre Boulez, Vladimir Jurowski, George Hurst, Gustavo Dudamel and Frank Strobel.

Since his debut at the Bavarian State Opera in Munich, his activities have taken him through Europe, Asia and Russia. He has conducted, among others, the Aarhus Symphony Orchestra, Hamburg Symphony Orchestra, the Nuremberg Symphony Orchestra, the Philharmonia Orchestra London, the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the Symphony Orchestra of St. Gallen and worked with the Symphony Orchestra of the Bavarian Radio Symphony and the Vienna Symphony Orchestra. His work spans the symphonic repertoire, the opera world, contemporary music and film music. Schumann is active as a composer of symphonic and chamber music works and in film music.
