Christian Sprenger ( born April 6, 1983 in Ludwigsfelde ) is a German handball player and a trained sports and fitness merchant. His playing position is right-winger, but can also be used on the right back side.

At the age of eight years, after a stint in the sport of judo, Christian Sprenger decided for the sport of handball and went through the youth departments of Ludwigsfelder HC.

For the 1998/1999 season he moved to the Youth B of SC Magdeburg. Already with the youth of the SCM Sprenger won several A- and B- youth league titles and was 2000 World Champion students. About the 2nd team that still was playing in the Regionalliga A- Youth and he finally got into the Sichtungskader the league. For this he ran for the first time in 2002. Since the 2003/2004 season, he came, in parallel with the inserts to the team of SC Magdeburg Youngsters in the second handball league, regularly in the Bundesliga club SC Magdeburg used.

Winning the EHF Cup missed Sprenger with the SC Magdeburg 2006 after a seemingly safe 8 -goal lead narrowly, to make it better, finally, in the following season. In the season 2006/2007 we sat down but then against CAI Zaragoza Aragón / Spain through and secured the Cup after 1999 and 2001 for the third time.

Two lengthy ankle joint or tendon injuries, which had their origin in the Bundesliga match against TBV Lemgo of 28 March 2006, which rendered two operations necessary, even more hindered operations in the national team jersey. It was not until the 2006/2007 season he returned after half a year injury break in the game against the Rhein- Neckar Löwen on September 10, 2006 in the cadre of the SCM back.

End of the season 2008/2009 Sprenger left the SC Magdeburg and moved to Kiel. The club was awarded as Sprenger had a valid contract until 2010, € 250,000 transfer fee. By THW Kiel Christian Sprenger won 2010, 2012 and 2013, the German Cup, in 2010 and 2012, the Champions League, 2011, 2012 and 2013, the DHB Cup, 2011 and 2012 the DHB Supercup and the 2011 Super Globe.

National

The Dress of the national team, he ran 86 times and threw it 185 goals. His international debut was on 4 January 2002 against Switzerland in Balingen. He took part in the 2006 European Championships, in which the German national team finished 5th. Also for the 2007 World Cup, he was nominated; but because of the training the residue by several ligaments he could not be taken into account and was replaced by Stefan Schröder. At the 2009 World Championships in Croatia, he was the first choice on right-winger with Stefan Schröder. But he injured himself in the first round match against Russia so heavy that he had to leave prematurely.

Also at the European Championships in Austria in 2010, he was set to Right Wing as No. 1, followed by Stefan Schröder, where the latter had to be replaced injured after the first game. The position of Stefan Schroeder then took a Christian Schöne, which already replaced Sprenger at the 2009 World Cup, when he was injured in the opening game and Stefan Schröder had to fit flu- related. The DHB selection finished at the end of the 10th Place.

At the European Championships in 2012 when Germany occupied the seventh place, he was elected as the best right winger in the All- Star team. On March 19, 2012, he announced his retirement from the national team is known due to excessive loads and the club missed Olympic qualification.
