Christian Vanneste

Christian Vanneste (* July 14, 1947 in Tourcoing ) is a French politician of the conservative Union pour un mouvement populaire.

Political career

From 1983 to 2008 he was a member of the City Council without interruption of Tourcoing, and from 2001 to 2008 at the Council of the Lille Métropole Communauté urbaine.

From 1986 to 2002 he also held a seat on the Regional Council of Nord-Pas -de- Calais region, which he had to give to the National Assembly by virtue of a law on multiple mandates after his election.

In addition to his political career, he taught philosophy at the private business school of Tourcoing and was deputy director of commerce and trade school Tourcoing, to which the school belongs.

Vanneste since March 1993 deputy in the French National Assembly.

Political positions

Vanneste is a supporter of the death penalty for terrorists, in April 2004 he was a signatory to a corresponding bill. In November 2007, he submitted a proposal to reduce the license fee. Furthermore, he argues that "Working in the public interest" should be strengthened pronounced as punishment.

He is an opponent of same-sex unions and says this ability to parenthood from. In a statement he described homosexuality as "a kind of racism "

Criticism

In 2007 he was sentenced to a fine of 3,000 euros for homophobic remarks. The decision was reversed by the French Court of Cassation on 12 November 2008. In February 2012 Vaneste falls again because of homophobic statements in the French media and as a result of his statements a party exclusion proceedings against him began.
