Christof Unterberger

Christof Unterberger ( born October 28, 1970 in Bregenz) is an Austrian cellist and composer.

Christof Unterberger received his first cello lessons at the Graz Conservatory and later at the Graz University of Music with Prof. H. Posch and Prof. R. Leopold. This was followed master classes with Philippe Muller and Paul Tortelier. From 1991 to 1995 he studied at the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique de Paris with Klaus Heitz and then at Phillipe Muller, with whom he finished his concert diploma.

Unterberger has worked as a soloist and chamber musician at home and abroad, he played as a soloist under Fabio Luisi Beethoven's Triple Concerto, further followed by appearances with the concertos of Haydn, Vivaldi, Monn ( Schoenberg ), Saint- Saens and Tchaikovsky. He has been principal cellist of the Vienna Chamber Philharmonic, the Vienna Schubert Ensemble, the Vienna Chamber Opera and the Vienna Ensemble Reconsil.

Since less time Christof Unterberger busy with styles off the classics, performances with the Kenny Werner Trio, Arkady Shilkloper, Alexander Wagendristel and singer Marque lead in the world of jazz and pop, he is also both as a composer for the ensemble Reconsil Vienna as working for film music.

Since 2008, Christof Unterberger is a member of Ulrich Drechsler Quartet.

Awards

Christof Unterberger was awarded the " Moondance Columbine Award 2006 " at the International Moondance Film Festival in Hollywood in the category "best movie score", he also received the International Dervio Film Festival in Italy, the award Miglior colonna sonora (Best Soundtrack). Furthermore, Christof Unterberger was awarded the 2nd prize at Peter Gabriel's Remix Competition 2007 ( realworld remixed ).

In 2009 he was awarded the 2nd prize at the Vienna Film Music Competition.

2010 Christof Unterberger ( donated by the City of Vienna ) with the Vienna Film Music Prize.

Private

Christof Unterberger lives with his wife and two sons in Vienna.
