Christoph Werner Konrad

Christoph Konrad ( born August 28, 1957 in Bochum) was from 1994 to 2009 MEP of the CDU in North Rhine -Westphalia in the European People's Party. Konrad is district chairman of the CDU Bochum and member of the executive committee of the CDU North Rhine -Westphalia.

Biography

Konrad studied political science and law and history at the University of Bonn; He received a doctorate in phil. at Karl Dietrich Bracher. Prior to joining the politics, he worked as an executive in the family business. In 1994 he was elected for the first time in the European Parliament. Here he was a regular member of the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs, Deputy Member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs and the Subcommittee on Security and Defence in the European Parliament. From 1999 he was also a contributor member of the EU Committee of the German Bundestag. In his parliamentary time the introduction of the euro, the liberalization of postal and energy markets fell. He was also rapporteur for the reform of the automotive internal market. Almost a decade ago, he was Deputy Chairman of the Parliament circle Mittelstand ( SME Circle ) of the EPP Group. He acted as a member of the Cyprus and later of Romania delegation to the respective accession of countries to the EU. Furthermore, was the Colonel D. R. Deputy member of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly and Commissioner of the CDU / CSU parliamentary group of the European Parliament for Relations with the Armed Forces.

After 15 years of membership in the European Parliament he is freelancing in policy advice in addition to his lecturing since 2009. Among his many credentials include the chair of the German section of the Luxembourg Foundation Mérite Européen. Since 2010 he has been chairman of the CDU district Bochum and member of the executive committee of the CDU NRW.
