Christophe Gans

Christophe Gans ( born March 11, 1960 in Antibes ) is a French film director, producer and screenwriter.

Life

Christophe Gans developed as a teenager a great passion for kung-fu, fantasy and science - fiction movies. He studied at France's most prestigious film school, the Institut des hautes études cinématographiques ( IDHEC ) in Paris and was incidentally editor of the trade magazine Starfix. He tried at first mainly of short films, with his graduation film from 1982 Silver Slime ( Bave d' argent ) a prize at the Festival du Film Fantastique won. In parallel, he worked again as a writer and producer for the French TV. During his studies met the producer Samuel Hadida goose, for whose production company he worked later. Together with screenwriter Thierry Cazals designed goose several comic adaptations, of which, however, only one, that of the Crying Freeman - The son of the dragon was realized in 1995. The very great success, however, was denied the film, only in his native France, he was able to compete successfully.

However, that changed in 2001 with Brotherhood of the Wolf. Brotherhood of the Wolf is one of the few French films that were successful in the United States. This is partly because the film for a wide audience is made ​​and does not belong to the otherwise prevailing in France auteur cinema.
