Christophe Léotard

Christophe Leotard (born 1966 or early 1967 ) is a French chess player. He is the 19th Correspondence Chess World Champion.

Achievements

Leotard, who learned to play chess at the age of 16 years, began in 1992 with the correspondence chess. He won in the 90s three times in a row (1995 to 1997), the French Correspondence Chess Championship. Then he turned with success the international correspondence chess to. He was appointed in 2000 to the Grand Master in correspondence chess. A match against HIARCS Chess and Tiger, two chess programs, he won with 3.5 to 0.5.

In the 19th Correspondence Chess World Championship - held from 2004 to 2006 - Leotard won five of his six games White and Black remisierte all games. He is the first Frenchman who wins the title of Correspondence Chess World Champion. As a world champion, he is the successor of the Dutchman Joop van Oosterom. Leotard works in the South of France as a teacher. He is married and has two daughters.
