Christopher Fynsk

Christopher Fynsk ( born August 30, 1952) is a literary critic, philosopher, and professor at the University of Aberdeen in Scotland.

Life and work

Fynsk 1980 he received a " Diplôme d' Etudes Avancées " in philosophy at the University of Strasbourg. The following year he was awarded a doctorate by the " Department of Romance Studies" at Johns Hopkins University. Then Fynsk taught until 2004 as a lecturer and professor and dean of comparative literature at the University of Birmingham. From 1985 to 1987 Fynsk taught as Maître de conférences Associé at the Department of Philosophy at the University of Strasbourg.

From 1995-1997 Christopher Fynsk worked as Dean of the Philosophy and Literature Section of the Modern Language Association. Since 2005 he teaches at the " Centre of Modern Thought" of the University of Aberdeen in Scotland, where he directs the School of Language and Literature and is the " Centre of Modern Thought" as a director before.

Fynsk deals with the political and literary aspects of continental philosophy. Works by Jean -François Lyotard, Gérard Granel, Jacques Derrida, Philippe Lacoue -Labarthe and Maurice Blanchot have been translated into English by Fynsk from the French.
