Christopher Nigel Page

Christopher Nigel Page ( born 1942 ) is a Scottish botanist. His botanical author abbreviation is " CNPage ".

Page was 25 years, Principal Scientific Officer for Research on coniferous plants at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh. He worked on the development of strategies for species conservation of tree species. In 1976, the Page Conifer Conservation Programme of the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh. He was founder and 1986 to 1994 the first chairman of Conifer Specialist Group of the IUCN Species Survival Commission (SSC ). Page is now a member emeritus of the SSC.

Page operates among others, evolutionary biology research. An article by Page for the taxonomy of conifers is the abjunction the genus Retrophyllum from the polyphyletic genus Nageia, and the establishment of the genus Afrocarpus of representatives of the genera Podocarpus and Nageia.
