Christopher Wernitznig (born 24 February 1990 in Villach) is an Austrian football player at the position of a striker. Since 2011 he plays for FC Wacker Innsbruck in the Bundesliga, the highest Austrian league.

Career

Youth

Wernitznig began his career in the youth team of the ATUS Notsch in Carinthia, where he began playing football in 1997. In 2004 he moved to the youth department of the SK Sturm Graz, he already left direction Villach 2005 SV. By 2007, he was with the Villachern in youth, before he was brought into the first team.

Club career

His debut in the first team were left midfielder on 25 May 2007 in the Carinthian League ( fourth highest Austrian league ) against SC Landskron. Overall, he came in his first season on four stakes and a goal. 2007/ 08 he came in 30 games on 29 missions and scored four goals. The VSV was eighth in the final table. In the following season Wernitznig moved a notch higher and was brought into the squad of SV Spittal / Drau. There, the left midfielder played in the Regionalliga Mitte 20 games and could meet again. He then returned to Villach and played one and a half seasons with the VSV. He was obliged by the newly promoted Bundesliga Wacker Innsbruck when he was in the autumn of 2010/11 season in 16 games scoring ten goals. Initially it was used in the amateurs. His debut in the Bundesliga he was 16 April 2011 against Rapid Vienna when he was substituted in the 81st minute for Thomas Bergmann. The home game was lost 0-3.

In the 2011/12 season was the most prolific players Wernitznig Innsbruck with eight goals.
