Chumley's

The Chumley's was a pub and a historic local artists in the Bedford Street in Greenwich Village neighborhood of New York City. The place was known from the 1920s as a meeting place of writers, but was also in the 1950s and 60s, a meeting place for writers and artists from the environment of the Beat Generation.

History

The Chumley's is located in the Bedford Street. Since 2000 located on the local one donated by the Friends of Libraries USA sign indicating that the Chumley's has been added to the list of historically significant places in the U.S. literature. It says about the Chumley's:

On the walls of Chumley's the covers of numerous books have since seen, of which it is assumed that their authors have worked at least partly there on them. Also for this reason is the Chumley's a popular destination point for many sightseeing tours through the Greenwich Village.

Current

On 5 April 2007 broke parts of the apartment building in which is located the Chumley's, together. Since then, the restaurant and some homes are baupolizeilich locked in its environment.
