The University Chungnam ( English: Chungnam National University, in short: CNU ) is a state university in South Korea. The main campus is located in Gung- dong ( west of the KAIST ), Yuseong -gu, Daejeon.

The name Chungnam ( 충남 ) is the short form of Chungcheongnam -do ( 충청 남도 ).

History

The university was founded in May 1952 as the provincial university ( with three colleges ( faculties): Liberal Arts, Agriculture, Food Science and Engineering). In March 1962, she was merged with the University of Chungbuk National University Chungcheong. In March 1963, but was divided into two state universities again.

1978, the current Daedeok campus was opened, and the College moved to the campus over the years to. 1984, the new University Hospital in Bowun campus was built, and the next year took the medical college after Bowun.
