Chūō-ku, Saitama

Chūō -ku (中央 区Japanese, German, Mitte district ') is a municipality ( ku ) of the Japanese city of Saitama.

History

As an independent town with over 90,000 inhabitants Yono was (与 野 市, -shi) to 2001 the administrative headquarters of Saitama Prefecture on Honshu, the main island of Japan. On May 1, 2001 as Yono city ( shi) was dissolved and merged with Urawa, Ōmiya and Iwatsuki the new prefectural capital Saitama.
