ÄŒierny Hron Railway

The Čiernohronská železnica ( CHZ short, Black Gran German Railways) is a forest track with a track width of 760 mm in Slovakia. They opened up the valley of the Čierny Hron in the Slovak Ore for timber removal. The now operated as a museum railway line since 1982 by National Heritage of Slovakia.

History

The planning of the railway in 1898 began after a statement by the then Minister for Agriculture. The construction of the first section - until now in operation - began in 1908; a year later (1909 ) the regular traffic between sawmills began in Čierny Balog and Hronec. The network was expanded to carry out the woods wood. For the expansion during the First World War and Russian prisoners were used.

The first official name of the railway was Hungarian Fekete Garam Vasút. To this day, you can see this name in the form of the acronym FGV Also allows passengers Hronec - On July 19, 1927, on the track Čierny Balog.

In the 1960s, the traffic has been restricted, 1982, the operation officially ended. At the same time the web has been declared a national cultural monument. A year later, volunteers started the reconstruction of the railway. In 1992 a museum traffic between Chvatimech and Čierny Balog was taken. The reconstruction of Streckenastes after Dobroč was completed with an official opening ceremony on 30 April 2012.
