Cífer

Cífer ( German Section, Hungarian Cifer - to 1907 Ciffer ) is a municipality in western Slovakia with 4052 inhabitants ( 31 December 2011) and is the largest municipality of inhabitants based Okres Trnava.

Geography

Cífer lies in the southwestern part of Hillsbrad Trnavská pahorkatina, a part of the Slovak Danube lowland. Through the town of Bach Gidra that runs from the Little Carpathians in the north- west flows out. The center is located at the altitude of 147 m nm and is 12 kilometers from Trnava.

The municipality is divided into the main town Cífer and Jarná ( to 1948 Slovak Gocnod until 1960 Božetechovo; Gottesgnad German, Hungarian or Gocnód since 1913 Dajta ) and PAC ( before 1927 Pacy; Hungarian Pusztapát ), which were incorporated in 1974.

History

The first evidence of settlement date back to the Neolithic period. Is best known, however, the archaeological site in the village of Pac, with finds from the Bronze and Iron Ages, Germanic and Roman settlements.

The town was first mentioned in writing in 1291. He belonged to the Counts of Lefantovce, since the 17th century then several ruling families. Early 18th century it was Cífer market rights and developed as a market town. 1828 had 147 houses and 1,045 inhabitants Cífer.
