Cimochy, Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship

Cimochy ( German: until 1929 the United Czymochen, 1929-1945 Reuss ) is a scoring for community Wieliczki village in the northeastern Mazury in Polish Warmia and Mazury, powiat Olecki.

Geography

The village is located six kilometers east of the village Wieliczki ( German Wielitzken ( Wallenrode ) ) at the confluence of the coming of Kalinowo Highway 651 to Highway 654 between Olecko and Suwałki. Between the latter two cities, there is also a railway line, which holds in Cimochy.

History

The town's name derives from one of the local founders from 1476 called Czymoch, which is a Slavic variant of the first name Timothy.

May 27, 1874 District Wiersbowen in Elk county was re- formed in the district of Olsztyn in the course of a Prussian government reform. Besides Wiersbowen it comprised the municipalities United Czymochen, Kiehlen, Millewen, Sanien, Soczien, Thurowen and Gutsbezirk Czymochen.

On 1 July 1909, the municipality and the United Czymochen Good Czymochen be reclassified to the circle Oletzko from the District Wierzbowen in Elk county and form short time later the independent District United Czymochen. He is initially managed by the Chief Administrator in domain Czymochen.

On December 1, 1910 551 inhabitants were recorded in the United Czymochen.

1918 got big Czymochen with a connection to the newly built station railway line between Marggrabowa ( Oletzko ) and Suwalki. Its location on the border with Poland and the associated border crossing in rail traffic increased the importance of the village and it came to a further growth of the number of inhabitants.

1925 Good Czymochen was incorporated in the United Czymochen.

Great Czymochen was renamed on 22 May 1929 at the wake of Eindeutschung Masurian place names Baltic or Slavic origin in Reuss.

1933 were recorded in Reuss 849 inhabitants.

In 1939 Reuss only 778 inhabitants.

After the end of World War II in 1945 to the German Empire ( East Prussia ) Reuss fell belonging to Poland. The resident population was German, if they had not fled, largely expelled after 1945 or expelled and replaced in addition to the traditional Masurian minority by new residents from other parts of Poland. The place Reuss was renamed Cimochy according to the Polish spelling of the historic city name.

From 1975 to 1998 Cimochy belonged to the former Suwałki Voivodeship, then came 1999 on the newly formed Warmia and Mazury.

2005 were in Cimochy 456 inhabitants resident.
