Cinderella (Software)

( 19.09.2013 )

Cinderella is a Java-based dynamic geometry software. It was developed by Ulrich Kortenkamp and Jürgen Richter- Gebert. Cinderella offers the opportunity to work with non-Euclidean geometries and is distributed as a single of the java -based dynamic geometry systems (DGS ) commercially. Since 2013 however, the pro version ( 2.8) is available for free.

Properties

Since Cinderella is programmed in Java, this software can be used on any Java-enabled operating systems.

Cinderella provides the capability to export images and applets on the Internet, without the program is installed. It is possible to create tasks that can check the solution and provide contextual advice on how to proceed.

Cinderella may represent different geometries:

  • Euclidean geometry
  • Elliptical geometry and
  • Hyperbolic geometry.

Cinderella 1.4 versus Cinderella.2

The version 2.0 ( " Cinderella.2 " ), has many new features. Especially with the new version fall on the advanced physical skills. Thus, the visualization of experiments from the kinetics and the mechanism is possible, for example:

  • Movement
  • Gravity to a bottom or a point- source gravity
  • Reflection on a flat surface
  • Power transmission.

On the Cinderella page you will find many example files.
