The Cindrel Mountains, also Zibingebirge (Romanian: Munţii Cibin or Munţii cindrel ) is located in southern Transylvania, west of the Fagaras Mountains. The German term refers to the river Zibin ( Cibin ), which originates in this mountain range. The mountain is part of the Southern Carpathians. The peaks reach heights of over two thousand meters above sea level.

The highest elevation of the Cibin Mountains is the 2245 meter high Varful cindrel.
