Cinnamon Challenge

The so-called Cinnamon Challenge is an Internet phenomenon in which a person attempts a dining or full teaspoon of cinnamon powder ( engl. = cinnamon ) swallow without something to drink. While the task at first glance seems easy to solve, it is actually very difficult to meet up almost impossible because of the cinnamon of the oral cavity immediately withdraws the water, which greatly complicates the swallowing. Since 2007, the Cinnamon Challenge is growing in popularity. Since 2010, more and more people invited to videos from portals like YouTube or social networks high as they try their hand at the Cinnamon Challenge.

Safety

Doctors advise against this competition, because the inhaled cinnamon may cause lung inflammation and severe allergic reactions. In the U.S. each year, many participants have to be emergency medical treatment. Deaths have been reported previously. Inferior Cinnamon can also contain toxic coumarin.

History

The Cinnamon Challenge was first Big Brother UK shown in the reality show, as the participants were asked to swallow the cinnamon without the aid of water. Three of the seven participants passed the exam. Radio programs also broadcast transmissions from people who tried their hand at the Cinnamon Challenge, celebrities increased the awareness of the Zimtessens, so among other things, Nick Young and JaVale McGee of the North American professional basketball league.

Similar competitions

The Cinnamon Challenge is similar to the " Saltine Cracker Challenge" ( German: salty cracker challenge ) in the six crackers in 60 seconds must be swallowed without drink.
