Circesium (Greek Κιρκήσιον ) was a Roman fort and settlement in Mesopotamia. The place is now 40 km southeast of Deir ez- Zor in Syria, at the confluence of the Khabur and the Euphrates.

The fort was located on an island in the confluence of two rivers. Under Diocletian the outworks of the system were expanded. Until the 5th century was Circesium seat of the prefect of Legio IIII Parthica.

In the course of the border fortifications renewal under Justinian I, the fortifications were renewed and repaired, which had been partly washed out by the Euphrates.

Circesium was also a bishop's seat, on the back is the titular Circesium.
