Circus Maximus (Norwegian band)

Circus Maximus is a progressive metal band from Oslo, Norway.

History

2000-2003 founding, early phase

2000, the band of the long-standing members Michael Eriksen, and the brothers Mats and Truls Haugen was founded. Shortly thereafter follow Espen Storø and Glen Cato Møllen to Circus Maximus to mold.

Originally Start Circus Maximus as a cover band, these good reviews for her interpretation of technically sophisticated songs of the groups received Dream Theater and Symphony X.

Soon the band started to compose her own songs, with an interesting mix of pop, rock, progressive rock and death metal were merged.

It will be released two highly regarded in Norway, the USA and the EU demo CDs. The press compares the band's style perfectly with the likes of Queensrÿche, TNT, Shadow Gallery, Pretty Maids, Helloween as well as the above- mentioned bands from the period as a cover band.

2004-2006 1st Chapter

In April 2004, the band signed a contract with Intromental management and a record deal with the North American label Sensory Records for the U.S. and Canada. Soon after, followed by a License Agreement for Europe and Russia at Frontiers Records. Immediately after signing the contracts, the band began to compose and published in May 2005, the first work " The 1st Chapter ". This CD contains 8 songs and two bonus songs, the title song "1st Chapter " with over 19 minutes of run time, the longest the band.

In addition, a U.S. tour was conducted in the same year, which led the band to Atlanta and as the culmination of the festival included Progpower USA.

In November 2005, the keyboardist Espen Storø decided to leave the band for personal reasons and was replaced by Lasse Finbråten beginning of 2006. In 2006, the band with their new keyboardist played back on the Progpower USA Festival and many concerts in the Scandinavian region with bands like Kamelot, Pagan's Mind and Glenn Hughes.

2007-2008 isolates

In spring 2007 the band recorded their second studio album " Isolate " on, which was released on August 7, 2007. After that, the band toured in many concerts including them playing on the ProgPower Europe festival ProgPower Scandinavia, Sweden Rock Festival and the Metal Hear Festival.

Between February 13, 2008 and 5 March 2008, the band toured with Dreamscape on the Symphony X " Paradise Lost Tour 2008".

The end of 2008, the band members start to compose new material for the next album.

2009- today

In 2009, Circus Maximus, play on the " Smuget Festival" in Oslo and back on the ProgPower USA festival.

In early 2010, the musicians go into the studio for the recording of the new album, which was supposed to appear as per band in the summer of 2010. Inter alia due to tendonitis in both arms by Mats Haugen is the release date has shifted. On 1 June 2012, the album ' Nine' in Europe has been published.

Style

Circus Maximus play Progressive Metal, being thoroughly bonds of Power Metal and Symphonic Metal can be heard. Similarly, partially Math rock -like riffs are used.
