Cirque d'hiver

The Cirque d' Hiver ( Winter Circus ) was built in 1852 in just eight months in the 11th arrondissement of Paris, between the Rue des Filles Calvaire and Rue Amelot. With the construction of a 20- sided polygon with Corinthian columns at the corners, which give the impression of an oval building, Jakob Ignaz Hittorff the circus of 19th century architecture has set a magnificent monument to build the Winter Circus in Paris. He is the only remaining of the past 18 Parisian circuses, although he had to change its function often in the more than 150 years of its existence, and lost much of his original equipment.

Today, in addition to the circus performances are numerous other types of events are held there, such as dressage events, musicals or fashion shows.
