Cisticolidae

Rostbauchprinie ( Prinia socialis )

The Halmsängerartigen ( Cisticolidae ) are a diverse songbird family, which was once considered subfamily of warbler -like ( Sylviidae ). There are small insect-eating birds with rounded wings and long, often graduated tails. They vary in size 9-20 centimeters. Their legs are thin and pointed beak. There are 27 genera, 145 species and 529 taxa below the species level, which occur in southern Europe, in Africa, in Asia and in the Australasian region. Their habitat is forests, savannas, grasslands, swamps and semi-arid and dry bushland. The plumage coloration is light at the forest-dwelling species and dark in the species that inhabit open terrain.
