Province

Citrusdal is a town with 7,177 inhabitants ( 2011). in the community Cederberg, West Coast district, Western Cape Province in South Africa. It is 182 meters above sea level about 180 kilometers north of Cape Town in the Valley of the Olifants River on the N7 main road at the foot of the Cederberg Mountains.

The city is around 100,000 tons citrus annually the center of the orange and lemon cultivation in the region. The cultivation of citrus fruit here has a long tradition. On the farm Hexrivier the oldest around 250 years orange tree grows in South Africa. As before, the tree bears fruit every year. Also here we cultivated wine with great success in the areas of Citrusdal Citrusdal Mountain and Valley.

The town was founded in 1916 by the Dutch Reformed Church, city status it received in 1957. The city's name refers to the citrus fruit cultivation in the valley.
