The City is part of the metropolis of Adelaide, capital of South Australia. The area is 15 km ² and has about 35,000 inhabitants. With its establishment on July 7, 1853, is the oldest independent administrative unit, outside of Adelaide, South Australia.

The LGA is located in central Adelaide and is bordered to the west by the city center. The area includes 21 districts: College Park, Evandale, Felixstow, Firle, Glynde, Hackney, Heath Pool, Joslin, Kensington, Kent Town, Marden, Marryatville, Maylands, Norwood, Payneham, Payneham South, Royston Park, St Morris, St Peters, Stepney and Trinity Gardens. The administrative headquarters of the council is in the Norwood neighborhood in the south of the LGA.

Management

The Norwood, Payneham & St Peters City Council has 16 members. 15 Councillor shall be elected by the inhabitants of the seven Wards ( two each from East Adelaide / Kent Town, Kensington, Payneham, Stepney / Maylands, Trinity and West Norwood Ward, three from Torrens Ward). These seven counties are set independently of the districts. The Council President and Mayor ( Mayor ) is also elected by all residents of the City.
